Senator Lalong Urges Decisive Action As Plateau Violent Attacks Resurge
By Anthony Maliki, Abuja
Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and former Governor of Plateau State Simon Lalong says the resurgence of violent attacks by murderous gunmen in Plateau State is unfortunate and must not be allowed to continue.
Lalong while sympathising with the victims of attacks in villages of Zikke and Kimakpa, Kwall District of Bassa LGA said these senseless, callous and cowardly acts are highly condemnable as henious crimes against humanity.
This was contained in a statement by Dr. Makut Simon Macham, Special Adviser on Media to Senator Lalong.
Lalong said with the attackers are becoming vicious and bolder by the day, the only way to find permanent solutions to these continous attacks on innocent citizens and stop impunity is to fish out the perpetrators and swiftly bring them before the law to pay for their actions.
According to the former Governor, so much has been done in trying to bring people of various backgrounds across the state together to foster unity, peaceful coexistence, dialogue and compassion, but it appears some persons or groups are bent on shedding blood and destroying properties to cause chaos.
The Senator therefore calls for a united front and determination to once and for all deal with criminals and their enablers who decide to take the law into their hands by murdering sleepy communities where children, women and men are killed in the most despicable manner.
He appreciates the concern of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and urges him to continue to support the Governor of Plateau State and relevant security agencies to stop at nothing in fishing out those who have carried out these attacks or their sponsors with a view to ensuring deterence and also facilitating other non kinetic efforts to restore law and order.
He condoles those who lost loved ones and prays for comfort at this difficult time.
