Senator Ekong Sampson extols Mboho Ndito Ikpa – Ikono Clan for fostering unity

Senator representing Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District in the National Assembly (Senate), Senator Ekong Sampson has commended Mkpat Enin socio-cultural group, Mboho Ndito Ikpa Ikono Clan for coming together to foster the unity and development of the area.
Dr. Ekong Sampson gave the remarks at the weekend in Uyo, during a meeting of the socio-cultural organization to ratify it’s draft constitution and the board of trustees.
He said, coming under one umbrella as a body to work for the development of the Clan was long over due but, expressed optimism that, with the cream – de – cream of personalities from the Clan coming to forge a common front at this time is a pointer to the unity, progress and development to come.
He pledged to support Mboho Ndito Ikpa Ikono to realize it’s aims and objectives saying that, the time has come for the Clan to take it’s right of place in the socio-political development of the local government and the state in general.
Earlier, the President of Mboho Ndito Ikpa Ikono Clan, Prof. Etete Peters thanked Senator Sampson for his love and support to the Union assuring that, Mboho Ikpa Ikono would live out the expectations of it’s founding fathers.
Prof. Peters, who is also the President of The Nigerian Thorasic Society and former Chief Medical Director of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH), said the Union would work to disentangle the Clan from socio-cultural and economic backwardness.
The group pledged among other things; to preserve the age – long cultural heritage of Ikpa Ikono race, empower communities and promoting social justice.
Others include; fostering social cohesion, promoting education and creating social awareness; supporting economic development by contributing to the development of local economies and sustainable development.
Other executives of Mboho Ndito Ikpa Ikono are; Engr. Umoren Umoren as Vice President, Elder Ime Udoaka, Secretary, Mr. Raphael Effiong, Assistant Secretary, Hon. Israel Silas, Treasurer, Dr. Edo Ekanem, Director of Women Affairs, Hon. Etido Udowo, Director of Youth Affairs, Sir Dennis Udoma, Director of Media and Public Affairs and Mr. Idongesit Nnah, Welfare Officer.
