In line with his determination to ensure self-reliance and sustainable development among the people of Gombe Central Senatorial District in view of the present economic reality the country, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, has distributed cash grant of One Hundred Million Naira (N100,000,000) to farmers of his constituency to improve their wellbeing.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the training and empowerment programme he facilitated in Gombe, Senator Goje stressed the importance of farming as one of the major drivers of the country’s economy, noting that the nation’s journey to economic prosperity can only be accomplished through proper training and funding of the agricultural sector.
He added, that the programme which had 500 farmers drawn from the 22 wards of Akko and Yamaltu Deba LGAs of Gombe Central Senatorial District, provided beneficiaries with training on modern farming techniques, and cash grant of N200,000 each.
Sen. Goje while admonishing participants to improve on their expertise stated that the empowerment programme was facilitated by him to ensure that his constituents were not denied the knowledge of modern and innovative farming techniques that would improve their efficiency.
He said, “I am delighted that all of you are willing to contribute to the development of our communities. I have no doubt that this training will equip you with the needed skills that will usher you into sustainable large scale farming through quality preservative measures.
“Agriculture remains one of the biggest sources of employment globally. So, I must ensure that my people are not restricted to traditional farming practices.
“I want the skills garnered in this training to translate to increased profit and productivity. Each and every one of you will get cash grant of N200,000 at the end of this training to further improve your proficiency and economic status.”
While speaking at the event, Federal commissioner Federal Complaint Commission, Alhaji Tanimu Usman (Bunun Deba) described Goje as a rare gem, commended him for bringing succour to his people at this period of economic crunch through various projects and empowerment programmes.
“Right from his days as Governor of this state, distinguished Senator Goje has been outspoken leaders who always fight against injustice; he is a progressive and fearless politician who touches the lives of his people positive, which is why we always give him our support 100 percent.” He added.
It would be recalled that Senator Goje had distributed 12,000 bags of fertilizer to farmers of his constituency in July this year. The fertilizers were distributed free of charge.
