Poised to put smiles on the faces of society’s underprivileged, Senator representing Gombe Central Senatorial District, Muhammad Danjuma Goje has donated food items and empowerment materials to Da’awah Orphanage Home, and Christian New Covenant and Orphanage Foundation all located in Tumfure, an outskirts of Gombe town.
Among the items donated are bags of rice, sugar cartons of spaghetti, noodles, tubers of yam, gallons of cooking oil, Maggi seasoning, detergents, soap, diapers and mattresses.
Others include educational materials such as school bags, exercise books, text books and shoes, as well as empowerment materials such as sewing machines, computers and grinding machines.
Presenting the items on behalf of the Senator, Malam Abba Tumfure said the gesture was aimed at bringing succour to the orphans.
According to him, what the former Gombe State Governor is doing is a great service not only to the children themselves, but to the immediate society and humanity in general.
He also encouraged the authorities of the orphanages to ensure that the orphans are trained and disciplined in such a way that they will not feel neglected by the society and that they can grow to be leaders of tomorrow.
Receiving the items, Administrative Secretary of Da’awah Orphanage Home, Malam Abubakar Usman commended Senator Goje for always identifying with them by bringing donations, saying this is not the first time the Senator is assisting them in various ways.
On his part, the Executive Director, Christian New Covenant and Orphanage Foundation, appreciated the Senator’s gesture and described the visit as sign of care and concern for the orphans.
