As a demonstration of love and kindness to his subjects, the Emir of Gombe Alhaji Dr Abubakar Shehu Abubakar (lll), has distributed food items, including hundreds bags of rice, maize, beans and cash worth millions of Naira to vulnerable and less privileged households in Gombe.
The exercise which was launched on Monday and lasted for three consecutive days, was monitored by the Emir in his palace.
Speaking during the inauguration of the distribution exercise, the Emir said the gesture was part of his efforts to find succour for the less privileged to cushion the effects of COVID-19 pandemic in the Emirate as well as during the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
He reiterated his commitment towards the promotion of unity and peaceful co-existence with the dictates of Almighty Allah and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Commenting on the exercise, Alhaji Sadik Gidado said the gesture was part of the Emir’s efforts to put smiles on the face of his people.
Sadik, who is the traditional title holder of Chiroman Zagin Gombe, said “Over 1500 households have received free donation of food items and cash worth millions of naira.
The intervention is under the Shehu Usman Abubakar Foundation, which is established to support and improve living conditions of the less privileged across the Emirate”
It is also part of his generous efforts to bring smiles on the faces of common citizens,’’ he said.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with our correspondent, thanked the monarch for the kind gesture, adding that it is timely because they were given the food items at the right time as it will go a long way in improving their living conditions
