A sales representative, Bright Okhuelegbe, on Tuesday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, acused of theft of N902,510, belonging to his employer.
Okhuelegbe, 29, whose house address was not given, however pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Sgt.Titi Olatoye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between August 2019 and August 2020 at Cedar Divine Nigeria Ltd, Idiroko Road, Ota in Ogun.
She said that the defendant, who worked as a sales representative of the company for the period in question, allegedly misappropriated N902,510, being the money generated from the goods entrusted in his care.
Olatoye said that the offence contravened Section 390(9)(6) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs Sam Obaleye, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with a surety in like sum.
She said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and gainfully employed.
Obaleye added that such surety must show evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
The magistrate adjourned the case until Sept. 18 for hearing
