Rivers Saga: Jigawa PDP roars on NWC over unholy remarks against Sule Lamido
The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Jigawa State has berated the National Publicity Secretary PDPof the PDP over his unholy comments against the former Governor and founding member of the party, Dr. Sule Lamido stressing that the party leadership in the state takes exception to such unsavoury remarks.
In a press statement signed by Isah Bello, the Secretary of PDP in Jigawa state, the party said “We have noticed with dismay the imbroglio that is unfolding in the Rivers State PDP and the polity in general over the past few weeks. We have also followed with keen interest the developments that led to the opportunistic intervention of President Tinubu in the name of resolving the dispute.”
‘It was on that note that our Leader, Dr. Sule Lamido, after noticing the ambivalence of our NWC decided to show his genuine and sincere concern by drawing its attention for immediate
action.
‘Rather than heed to his fatherly counsel, the NWC, through the National Publicity Secretary, decided to release a disrespectful press statement against our leader.’ It maintained.
The statement further made it clear that ‘Jigawa State PDP chapter and all stakeholders take exception to this not so deeply thought action on our revered leader. Though understandably, the composition and chemistry of the NWC could be excused due to its lacuna in the historical formation of the PDP! The NWC members may wish to be reminded that some elders took a lot of risks, including going to prison for them to occupy the positions they are now enjoying. Inferring that our Dr Sule Lamido is working for APC is a joke
taken too far”
The statement maintained that “the primary function or duty of the NWC is to serve, protect and promote
the fortunes of our great party, not to offer means of livelihood. We urge
the members of NWC to heed the counsel given by Dr Sule Lamido.”

The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara has been having a raging battle with the erstwhile governor of the state, now Minister for FCT, Nyesom Wike over control of the state.
On the 30th October, the state governor stormed the state House of Assembly to stop his rumoured impeachment by members of the State Assembly still largely loyal to Wike. In the process, the State Assembly complex was allegedly bombed by yet to be identified persons.
On the 11th of December, 27 out of the 32 members of the state Assembly loyal to Wike defected from the PDP to APC in what analyst described as a complete breakdown of relationship between the former governor and his loyalists and about 6 members still loyal to the governor. In his response, the governor ordered the demolition of the state House of Assembly, citing structural defects from the earlier fire outbreak.
It was therefore in response to the complete breakdown of order that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu brokered the so called peace deal that left governor Fubara with the short end of the stick…
