Mr Habu Ajiya, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Primary Elections’ Committee for Plateau South Senatorial district, says 2,117 delegates are expected to participate in the exercise.
Ajiya said this when he addressed newsmen before the start of the primaries on Thursday in Shendam.
The Chairman said that all the delegates would be thoroughly screened and given tags before they would be allowed into the venue of the by-election.
“We are here to conduct a family business because all of us are members of the APC and all the aspirants are contesting under our party.
“We will do our best to conduct a free and fair primary that will be accepted not only by the aspirants but by the entire people of Plateau South.
“We will issue the delegates with tags to curtail unwanted persons in the environment,” he said.
He said that four aspirants would be seeking the party’s ticket.
According to him, all the aspirants will be given a level-playing ground for one of them to emerge as the flag bearer.
He expressed satisfaction with the arrangements put in place by the local organising committee.
Also, Mr Alex Nantuam, Chairman of Shendam Local Government Council, said that adequate arrangements had been put in place for a hitch-free exercise.
Nantuam said that all members of the party were bound together by the party’s manifesto and he expected a smooth exercise.
“In terms of security, we have mobilised enough so that would-be trouble makers will not be given the opportunity to foment trouble,” he said.
Mr Alphonsus Komsol, the member representing: Shendam, Mikang and Quan’Pan Constutuency at the National Assembly advised all the stakeholders to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner.
