Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has saluted men and women of the Nigerian Armed Forces for their gallantry in securing the nation both internally and externally.
While marking this year’s armed Forces remembrance day in Jos Wednesday, he urged the people of Plateau and Nigeria to remember those who have served and retired as well as those who have passed away.
“As a nation we must pay our respect to those who have served this nation meritoriously adding that we must find a way to care for them in their old age,” he said.
According to him, the Armed Forces remembrance provides a platform and opportunity to remember these individuals.
“It reminds us to care for the family of those that have died as well as those that have retired and are facing challenges in life,” he noted.
Mutfwang said as Africans and Nigerians we have a deep sense of communality and must continue to support them as a government.
He said one of the things to be accomplished this year is free transportation for those aged 70 years and above saying we are to explore other means to ensure their needs are met.
