PLASIEC Fixes Plateau LG Polls for October 9th This Year

The Plateau state independent electoral commission, PLASIEC, has announced the date for the conduct of local government elections in State.
The chairman OF PLASIEC, Planji Cishak has announced Wednesday 9, October 2024 as the date of the election while briefing news on Wednesday 10th July .
According to him,
the commission is asking all prospective candidates to obtain nomination forms in respect of the election into the offices of Chairmen and Councilors of the 17 Local Government Councils from the Plateau State.
Plateau Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) Headquarters he said would from Friday, 9th August, 2024 to Tuesday, 13th August, 2024 Sells normination forms between the hours of 8.00am and 4.00pm daily.
Similarly the Campaign activities has been scheduled to begin from 12th July, 2024 .
According to him, Collection of Nomination Forms for Candidates by Political Parties is from Friday 9th August, 2024 to Tuesday 13th August, 2024.
He said Notice of Election Guidelines starts from Wednesday, 10th July, 2024 and that
Commencement of Campaign by Political Parties would begin from Friday, 12th July, 2024 this month of July 2924.
As determined by the Commision, he said Conduct of Party Primaries including resolution of disputes arising from same and observation of same by the Commission would be carried out from Monday, 29th July, 2024 to Thursday, 8th August, 2024 as determined by the Commission In accordance to Section 84 of the Electoral Act, 2022.
He added that Collection of Nomination Forms for Candidates by Political Parties would start from Friday 9th August, 2024 to Tuesday 13th August, 2024 In accordance to
Section 23 of the PLASIEC Law while Submission of Nomination Forms for Candidates by Political Parties would be on Wednesday, 14th August, 2024 to Monday, 19th August, 2024 In line with Section 23 of the PLASIEC Law, 2016
He added that Publication of Personal Particulars of Candidates by the Commission would also starts from Wednesday, 21st August, 2024 in accordance to Section 23(4) of the PLASIEC Law, 2016 while Verification/Screening of Chairmanship Candidates and their Running Mates starts from Thursday, 22nd August, 2024 to Saturday, 24th August, 2024 in accordance with Sections 31-32 of the Local Government Law, 2017 and Sections 101-102 of the Electoral Act, 2022
The PLASIEC chairman added that Verification and Screening of Councillorship Candidates would begin from Monday, 26th August, 2024 to Friday, 30th August, 2024 In line with Sections 25-26 of the Local Government Law, 2017 and Sections 101-102 of the Electoral Act, 2022
In similar vein , he said Submission of List of Qualified/Cleared Candidates to the Political Parties by PLASIEC would begin from Monday, 2nd September, 2024 in accordance with Section 26 of the PLASIEC Law, 2016 while receiving of Appeal Cases by PLASIEC is expected to start from
Wednesday, 4th September, 2024 in accordance to Sections 25-26 and 31-32 of the Local Government Law, 2017 while hearing of Appeal Cases by PLASIEC would begin from Friday, 6th September, 2024 in line to Sections 25-26 and 31-32 of the Local Government Law, 2017
While the last Day for the Withdrawal by Candidate(s)/replacement of withdrawn Candidate(s) by Political Parties would be on Monday, 9th September, 2024 in accordance with Section 27(2) of the PLASIEC Law, 2016 with
Substitution of Withdrawn/Uncleared Candidates by Political Parties would be between
Wednesday, 11th September, 2024 in line with Section 27(2).
