A factional women group, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, has rejected the call for the removal of Lois Emmanuel, as the Taraba State PDP women leader.
The group led by Ladi Danjuma, the PDP women leader of Taraba South, stated this during a protest march in support of Mrs Emmanuel in Jalingo on Sunday evening.
Some concerned women of the party had on Thursday, staged a protest calling for the removal of Mrs Emmanuel, claiming that she is stingy and not friendly to the party women as such she is not fit for the position.
Mrs Danjuma, said those calling for the removal of the new women leader are charlatans that have no political value to the party.
Expressing their dissatisfaction with the opposition group to Lois position as the party’s women leader, Danjuma and her supporters vowed to resist any attempt to oust her from the post.
“Our State Congress was successfully conducted. I call on our fellow women who are unhappy with her election to channel their grievances through the proper channels and stop these unnecessary protests,” she said.
Acknowledging the current tension in the party, the party leadership, through its spokesperson Andeta’rang Iremea, said efforts are underway to resolve the differences within the party’s women’s wing.
Recall Emmanuel was elected late last month through a consensus arrangement during the State Party Congress.
