The Taraba State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) elected a new set of officers on Friday.
The new executive, led by Mathew Jen of Information Chapel, was sworn in at the NUJ Press Center in Jalingo shortly after members cast their votes
Other elected officers are Ado Adamu Vice Chairman, Apollos Dennis, Secretary, Jethro Sayo, Assistant Secretary, Hilda Adebayo, Treasurer Sylvanus, Financial Secretary and Victoria Roland, Auditor.
While announcing the result of the election, Mr. Justin Tyopusuu, the chairman of the credentials committee noted that all the contestants, except the position of the Secretary were elected unopposed.
The position of the Secretary was contested by Mr Apollos and Irakunya Ezekiel. Apollos scored 64 votes while Mr Ezekiel got 57 votes.
The oath of office was administered to the new executive members by Zare Baba, the North East Vice President of NUJ.
Mr. Jen in his acceptance speech, thanked members for taking their time to put in place the new executive.
While pledging his commitment to the welfare of members and development of the NUJ, the new chairman said he was grateful for the confidence reposed in him.
