The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State Command, has strengthened its partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to curb the spread of illicit drugs in the state.
The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Aminu Datti Ahmad, disclosed this during a strategic visit to the FRSC Sector Commander, Corps Commander Aliyu Ma’aji, and the NDLEA State Commander, CN Mohammed Aminu Abubakar, at their respective headquarters in Katsina.
Speaking during the visit, Commandant Ahmad emphasized the critical role of inter-agency collaboration in tackling drug abuse, which has been linked to rising crime rates and security challenges in the state.
He reiterated that addressing the issue requires a coordinated approach among security agencies to dismantle drug supply networks, enforce laws, and promote public awareness campaigns.
“The fight against drug abuse cannot be won in isolation. It is a shared responsibility that requires synergy between security agencies. The NSCDC is committed to working closely with FRSC and NDLEA to rid our communities of illicit drugs and ensure the safety of our people,” Ahmad stated.
The FRSC and NDLEA commanders welcomed the initiative, pledging their full cooperation in intelligence sharing, enforcement operations, and community sensitization programs aimed at discouraging drug abuse, especially among youth.
Commandant Ahmad also acknowledged the leadership of the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Audi, for his vision in promoting national security, protection of critical infrastructure, and public safety.
This renewed partnership marks a significant step in the collective fight against drug abuse, with security agencies working together to ensure a safer and more drug-free Katsina State.
