Chieftain of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Tom Maiyashi, says that Nigerian faulty political system breeds irresponsible and corrupt leaders in the country.
He asserted this during the funeral of late Balarabe Musa in his Kaduna residence on Wednesday, where he explained that continuous corruption and nonchalant leadership style of Nigeria’s political leaders has brought political and economical woe to the country.
Tom Maiyashi who was a commissioner under the government of late Balarabe Musa said the deceased was a man whose ideology is to always promote human development.
The former commissioner of education while speaking also frowned at the current Nigerian political structure, which he describes as lacking competence, transparency, equity and moral value.
According to him, the corrupt selection process of leaders is a crucial factor in Nigeria’s challenge, as leaders are chosen based on the weight of their pockets and not competence nor the people’s will.
He warned that Nigeria might not be free from the current pity state, until things are amended.
