Mrs Rabi Sangari, North East Zonal Coordinator, National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), said that no fewer than 300 students of Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education, Kangere, Bauchi State, were sensitised on film classification and symbols.
Sangara made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi on Tuesday.
She noted that the students were also educated on other related guidelines on viewer’s discretion.
She said that the objective of the programme was to source fundamental information that would guide youths in their choice of movies.
The coordinator noted that the programme was also designed to create awareness on various processes of film censoring, before being allowed into the Nigerian Market.
Sangara said that the students were expected to share the information with their peers and members of their respective communities.
“Sign such as “G” which indicates that content is suitable for all ages.
“Meaning and information on “PR” for parent guide; 18 for ages 18 and above; among others, were carefully explained to them.
“Participants are to step down the information faster as they relate with their peers and other associates.
“This is a channel that will enhance knowledge on viewer’s discretion.
“With the information on various classifications, the youths will know the type of films or movies to watch and also caution their younger ones,” she said.
