The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has begun the training of 300 teachers in Adamawa, to enhance their teaching capacity.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 150 teachers each were drawn from basic and post basic schools for the training, organised through the NEDC Education Endowment Fund.
Mr Joshua Ibrahim, Technical Assistant to the NEDC Chairman, said that the training was to bridge knowledge gap among teachers, to enhance the quality of education in the region.
“We are aware that there is a gap of knowledge and it is that gap we are trying to fill.
“So you need to concentrate and make sure you learn the skills that will enable you to impact your students and colleagues,” he said.
Dr Salihi Ateequ, Executive Secretary, Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board, commended NEDC for the training.
He said that the gesture would compliment the effort of the state government, which employed 2,000 teachers recently.

A consultant, Abdulrahman Hamisu, said that the target was to equip the participants to enable them to discharge their duties more effectively.
Another consultant, Hajiya Zainab Jaji, said the training would focus on the capacity of the teachers to ensure good result when they return to the classrooms.
A participant, Malam Musa Yusuf, commended NEDC for the gesture and assured that they would use what they learnt to impart the relevant knowledge to their students.
