The Nasarawa State government has condoled with the family of the former Commissioner for Information, Mrs Victoria-Titi Monde, who died on July 23.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Dogo Shammah, led other management team of the ministry on a condolence visit to the family on Monday in Akwanga.
NAN also reports that Monde died in the early hours of July 23, at the age of 62.
Although Shammah described the late commissioner’s death as painful, he, however, urged the family to it as an act of God.
“Our mother, the former Commissioner for Information, who also served as the Provost, College of Education, Akwanga, contributed immensely to the development of the state and the country at large, while alive.
“She was committed to her job and her death was a great loss, not only to the family but also, to the state and the country in general.
“We urge you to see her death as an act of God. May her soul and the soul of other departed rest in peace,” he said.
Responding, a younger brother to Monde, Mr Paul Abuga, expressed appreciation to the commissioner and his entourage for the condolences, and prayed God to bless them abundantly.
Abuga, who is the Secretary of Nassarawa Eggon Local Government council, also urged them to pray for the family and for the repose of Monde’s soul.
NAN reports that Monde was appointed as commissioner for information in 2011 during the administration of former Gov. Tanko Al-Makura.
