A 38-year-old businessman, Ibrahim Hussaini, on Wednesday, told an Upper Area Court in Kubwa that his friend, Nasiru Yunusa dumped his wife’s belongings at her parents house.
Hussaini said this while giving his testimony in a divorce proceeding filed by Hajiya Aisha Hamisu against her husband, Yunusa.
“I took part in the marriage arrangements between Hamisu and her husband in 2021 and afterwards she started complaining about feeding.
“Hamisu also complained that her husband disrespects her parents and when he goes to work, he would not return until after three days, ” Hussaini said.
He added that during Ramadan, Hamisu relied on her neighbours for food because the respondent did not provide any.
” I decided to reach him through his cellphone but all were switched off so I traced him to his workplace at Zone 6, Wuse to advice him but he accused me of taking sides with the plaintiff.
” The plaintiff returned to her parents house, then fell ill and discovered she was pregnant ,” he said.
He added that Hamisu’s parents called the respondent for a meeting, to inform him of the plaintiff’s condition and appealed to him to get someone to look after her.
The witness said the respondent brings money for antenatal sometimes and other times switches off his cellphone.
” The respondent gave me N3,000 on two occasions and N2,000 once to give his wife, she however decided to bring her complainant to court after he dumped her belongings with her parents,” he said.
The judge, Mr Yahaya Sheshi, however adjourned the case until July 26 for further hearing.
Earlier, Hamisu begged the court to dissolve her marriage to Yunusa on grounds of lack of feeding and disrespect to her parents.
Yunusa denied the allegations against him and told the court that he normally provide food for her and their 13-month-old baby.
