MTN Foundation Revamps 7 Laboratories in Gombe Science School

In a significant boost to science education, the MTN Foundation founded by MTN telecommunication company has renovated and equipped seven science laboratories in Government Day Science Secondary School, Gombe, Gombe State.
Commissioning the new laboratories on Tuesday, a Director of the MTN, Mohammed Kabir Ahmed, represented by Ali Yaya Ahmed, said this was the third phase of such projects executed by MTN Foundation across the country.
According to him, in the third phase, the projects were executed in six public secondary schools across the country, including Government Day Science Secondary School in Gombe.
He noted that the initiative is part of the Foundation’s Science and Technology Laboratory Project (MTNF STLP), aimed at enhancing science education in public secondary schools in line with their Corporate Social Responsibility.
The Director stated that the laboratories renovated and equipped include; two physics, two chemistry, two biology and one agricultural science.
He added that they provided them with state-of-the-art facilities, installed alternative power solutions, digital learning tools such as laptops, projectors, and screens.
He said the MTN Foundation invested over N2 billion in renovating 102 science laboratories in 32 secondary schools across 15 states in the last three years.
In his speech on behalf of the state government, the Gombe State Commissioner of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Abdullahi Usman Garkuwa, praised MTN for the gesture, stating that it would enhance science practicals and experiments.
He also revealed plans by the government to introduce space and rocket sciences in the state.
