Mother Of Katsina Governor Hajiya Safara’u Dies At 93

The mother of Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, Hajiya Safara’u, died in the early hours of Sunday, March 23, 2025.
The sad news was confirmed by the Government of Katsina State in a statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula and made available to the press, who said she passed away last night at the age of 93.
Hajiya Safara’u was a woman of remarkable strength and dignity, whose wisdom and grace touched the lives of many.
Beyond her role as Governor Radda’s mother, she was a nurturing figure to generations, guiding not just her family but also serving as a beacon of inspiration in her community.
Her children include Alhaji Kabir Umar Radda, the current Village Head of Radda, and Hajiya Hauwa Umar Radda, former wife of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, further underscoring her family’s legacy of leadership and service.
Described as a true Fulani matriarch, Hajiya Safara’u embodied values of integrity, perseverance, and community service, leaving behind a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
She will be laid to rest today at 4:00 pm in her hometown of Radda Village, Katsina State.
The State Government, however, extends its deepest condolences to Governor Radda and his family, praying that Allah grants Hajiya Safara’u eternal peace in Jannatul Firdaus.
