Former Gov. Abdul’aziz Yari of Zamfara, on Sunday, called on All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in the state to mobilise for collection of permanent voter cards (PVCs) in their respective communities.
He made the call in Gusau at the inauguration of APC Governorship Campaign Committees for the 14 local government areas of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Yari is the Chairman, APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council in the state for the 2023 general elections.
He said that the only way of ensuring participation in the coming elections and supporting the party’s candidates was for them to have voter cards.
Yari described PVC as very critical to voting, saying that without it, no one would be allowed to exercise his/her constitutional rights during the general elections.
“I am using this medium to call on all APC youths and women groups to mobilise electorate at the grassroots for PVC collection.
“All APC stakeholders in the state should embark on massive campaign for PVC collection in their respective communities.
“We should use the opportunity to also mobilise for APC’s success in the 2023 general elections in the state,” he said.
The former governor said that the APC governorship campaign would commence in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, headquarters of Zamfara North Senatorial District, on Dec. 26.
“I am assuring you that when APC governorship campaign kicks off, it will show the clear APC strength in the state,” he added.
In his remarks, Gov. Bello Matawalle commended APC stakeholders, members and supporters for their efforts toward ensuring APC’s success in the state.
Matawalle particularly commended Yari and the campaign council members for making the party very active and strong in the state.
“I believe that these efforts will guarantee APC’s success in the 2023 general elections in the state,” Matawalle said.
The governor appealed to the electorate in the state to vote massively for all APC candidates in the 2023 general elections.
NAN reports that 30 members were appointed in each of the governorship campaign committees of the 14 local government areas in the state.
