Minister Of State For Regional Development Visits Maiduguri, Inspects NEDC Projects
The Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Ubagiji Alhamdu Maigari, paid an official familiarization visit to Maiduguri, where he was received by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Mohammed Goni Alkali.
As part of his visit, the Minister met with the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur.
He stated that it was his first official engagement since his appointment.
He emphasized his commitment to understanding the operations of the NEDC and assessing its ongoing projects.
The Deputy Governor commended the NEDC for its critical interventions in Borno State, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to working collaboratively with the commission.
Following the courtesy visit, the Minister embarked on an inspection tour of key projects implemented by the NEDC in Maiduguri.
These projects include:Center for the Study of Countering Violent Extremism at the University of Maiduguri, burnt Center at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, remodeled Maternity Center at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Maternity and Child Clinic at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Maiduguri, reconstructed and remodeled Borno Drug and Pharmaceuticals Store, heavy and building materials to support the rebuilding of homes for flood victims and interventions at the State Dental and Eye Hospital, Maiduguri.
Other projects visited are construction of a Dental Annex Theatre, construction of male and female wards, construction of a theatre complex at the Eye Hospital, construction of three-bedroom semi-detached two-story doctors’ quarters and ongoing Construction of the Maiduguri State NEDC office.
During his visit, the Minister also paid a royal visit to the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Alamin El-Kanemi, seeking his blessings and reaffirming.
