Following the rampant cases of meter theft, the Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has advised customers in its franchise to be vigilant as a measure to nip in the bud, the menace of meter theft in Kano franchise area.
According to the Management, this is a new trend and we are not going to take it with levity as this is capable of impeding our efforts at encouraging the public to embrace the Meter Asset Providers (MAP) Scheme.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the companies head of corporate communications,
Ibrahim Sani Shawai and made available to newsmen on Monday.
Just as we have taken the fight against transformer oil theft, vandalism and other economic sabotage, we are warning perpetrators to desist from meter theft as we have put in a strong surveillance team to ensure that this menace is nipped in the bud as quickly as possible.
In this regard, we charge all our customers to take extra measures to protect their meters while reporting suspected cases to security agencies or any KEDCO offices.
While we assure our customers of the needed measures to ensure that we protect their interests, we call on them to consult the right channels when purchasing their meters.
