Matawalle Visits Epicentre of Banditry in Eastern Sokoto, Assured Residents of Continue Military Operations
*Seeks Synergy Against Other Crimes

Minister of State Defense, Bello Mohammed Matawalle has embarked on assessment tour of the eastern Sokoto in order to the boost morale of military operations of ‘Fansan Yamma’ in the north west.
Matawalle who visited Gundumi, Isa, Turba, Sabon Birni and Gatawa assured the people of Federal Government’s support on the fight against insecurity bedivilling the area.
He said fighting banditry, terrorism and kidnapping for ransom should be a collective responsibility of all citizens as some notables among us have neglected thier opportunities to tackle the menace on political and selfish grounds.
“President Bola Tinubu has accorded priority to the fight against the menaces and ensured right allocations and support to the sector, however, some people in leadership positions have been abandoning their responsibilities which have allowed the situation to worsen.
“The fight against these criminalities should be considered beyond politics, religious or ethnic differences as it required collective support and collaboration among state governments, traditional institutions and community members at large,” Matawalle said.
According to him, the deadly fight against banditry is not for Federal Government alone because it deserves support from individuals, groups and stakeholders in order to achieve the maximum success.
He noted that there is need to always promote understanding, eschew political differences and hatred among people as well as refrain from actions that jeopardize public peace and the Federal Government good effort against banditry, terrorism and kidnappings for ransom.
“I assured you that we shall not condone any misinformation, circulation of fake as well as unsubstantiated reports against our efforts.
“We are aware that some people constitutes nuisance, spreading unverified news on banditry and other criminalities which directly or indirectly aided the criminalities,” the Minister pointed out.
He noted that the northern region needs proactive and collaborative supports from all categories of people in order to overcome the security challenges that bedeviled the area and retarded its economic and social developments.
