A 35-year-old man, Adeyinka Oyinlola, on Monday appeared at an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly conspiring with others currently at large to obtain N2.5million under false pretences.
Oyinlola, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining under false pretences and stealing.
Prosecutor Adegeshin Famuyiwa told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Nov. 8, 2021 at about 10:00 a.m., at Ogodongbon area of Ikorodu in Lagos State.
Famuyiwa said that the defendant allegedly collected the sum of N2.5m from the complainant, Mrs Akinola Abosede, with the pretence of selling one plot of land to her knowingfully well that it was not true and also converted the money to his personal use.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 411, 314(1)(2) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr A.O Ogbe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ogbe adjourned the case until Dec. 8 for mention.
