Mailantarki FC, Others Shine At Prudential Sports Awards In Gombe

The inaugural Prudential Sports Football Awards ceremony, held on Saturday in Gombe State celebrated exceptional talents in football community in the state.
Mailantarki Football Club emerged as one of the top winners, with its players and sponsor receiving prestigious awards.
Jabir Hassan of Mailantarki FC won the Break Through Player and Rising Star awards, recognising him as an emerging talent in Gombe State’s football scene.
His club’s CEO, Honourable Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki, received a special award for his immense contribution to grassroots football development in Gombe State.
Other notable winners included Bawa Buhari Pitani, who took home the Golden Whistle Award, and Haruna Isa Kalshingi, who was named Referee of the Year. Abubakar Umar of Adamawa United won the Senator Haruna Garba Fair Play Award for players, while Jekadafari Ward FC received the Alhaji Baba Manu Fair Play Award for teams.
Additionally, 13-year-old gymnast Munyal Kwairanga received a special award for winning three gold medals at the 2024 National Youth Games, where she brought pride to Gombe State.
Founder and chief executive of Prudential Sports, Mr Faruk Yarma, explained that the aim of the award is to promote excellence and growth within Gombe State’s football community.
He said there are a lot of outstanding players in the state with good potentials that the federal government can recruit in the national football team adding that the recognition was meant to encourage them.
