The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has charged the compatriots to eschew hate speeches, divisive comments especially in the media and unite to face the serious challenges bedeviling the country.
Bauchi state newly elected branch chairman of the association Barrister Jibrin Sa’id Jibrin gave this charge in a press release issued to journalists over the weekend.
He asserted that for the country to succeed in terms of the pursuit of development, citizens must be the change they want around them adding that both the leaders and the led should rededicate themselves to building the nation.
“This means that hate speech, inciting, divisive comments, abuse of the right to use the social media and all other criminal conducts must be eschewed by citizens.
“We have to continue to relate well with one another and all authorities in facing the serious challenges we are facing as a people”. He said.
The association reiterated the call for a speedy conclusion of the process of granting financial autonomy to the judiciary and the legislature for the betterment of democracy in Nigeria.
The chairman finally rejoiced with the Muslim ummah in the state on the recent sallah festival describing the event as sacred in islam.
