LeedGate Innovation Hub marked a significant milestone as it successfully concluded its Digital Discovery Bootcamp with a vibrant graduation ceremony. The event celebrated the achievements of young “Digital Discoverers,” participants aged 8 to 16, who spent the past four weeks of their summer holiday acquiring essential digital skills in areas such as coding, robotics, computer appreciation, and multimedia.
The ceremony began with a welcome address by the CEO and Founder of LeedGate Innovation Hub, Mal. Aminu Kyari, who expressed his pride in the accomplishments of the participants. “This Bootcamp marks the beginning of a series of exciting programs designed to equip different segments of the community with essential technological and entrepreneurial skills,” he stated. “I am thrilled by the enthusiasm and dedication shown by our Digital Discoverers, and I am confident that they are well on their way to becoming future innovators.”
A major highlight of the event was the student presentations, where participants confidently shared their learning experiences. The young graduates impressed the audience with their understanding of various digital concepts and their practical application of the skills acquired during the Bootcamp. Notably, the students showcased their collaborative project – a fully operational robotic car, which they created and programmed themselves. The car was demonstrated during the ceremony, showcasing the students’ ability to combine creativity with technical knowledge.
Parents were visibly impressed by the impact the Bootcamp had on their children. During the event, several parents shared their thoughts, expressing deep appreciation for the program’s positive influence on their children’s growth and development. “I am truly amazed at how much my daughter has learned in just four weeks,” one parent remarked. “LeedGate has exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to engaging our children in future programs.” Another parent added, “Now, my kids no longer spend time on TV and cartoons. Instead, they are always on their computers working on projects and assignments.”
The Special Guest, Abdullahi Isa, CEO of New Investors Limited, delivered an inspiring speech on the importance of fostering creativity and innovation in young minds. He commended the Hub for its initiative and encouraged the graduates to continue pursuing knowledge and digital skills to prepare for the future.
The CEO also announced the Hub’s upcoming activities, including the launch of four new training programs in general IT skills, set to begin in October 2024, under the Certificate in IT Applications & Management (ITAM) series. Additionally, starting in November is the LeedGate Expert Series, a weekly program where industry experts will share practical insights and solutions on key business and entrepreneurship topics, aimed at empowering the local community. He also revealed a year-long Saturday mentorship program for the graduates to further enhance their learning and development.
The graduation ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to the proud participants, followed by a group photo. This Bootcamp, being the inaugural program at LeedGate Innovation Hub, has laid the foundation for future initiatives aimed at advancing business development, digital literacy, and fostering a community of innovators in Northern Nigeria.
LeedGate Innovation Hub’s commitment to continuous learning and empowerment, as reflected in its diverse range of upcoming activities, promises to make a lasting impact on the region’s youth and contribute to the growing digital and entrepreneurial ecosystem in Nigeria.
