The President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan, has lauded the emergence of Sen. Abdullahi Adamu and Sen. Abubakar Kyari, as the National Chairman and Vice Chairman North, of the APC.
Lawan who gave the commendation at Tuesday’s plenary, said the feat was good for the legislature.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the duo on March 26, emerged as members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC.
Lawan said: “On March 26, two of our distinguished colleagues were elected to lead the governing party, the APC.
“Sen. Abdullahi Adamu (APC-Nasarawa) was returned elected as the new national chairman of the APC for four years.
“”Another distinguished member of this Senate, Sen. Abubakar Kyari (APC-Borno) was also returned elected as the new deputy national vice chairman north, for the APC.
“These two distinguished senators are now in charge of our party in Nigeria and beyond.
“It is a very good development for the legislature; it is a very good development for the National Assembly and particularly the senate.
“On behalf of all of us, I want to congratulate our distinguished colleagues. We wish them God’s guidance and protection as they steer the ship of the new APC.
“It was a night of unity for the APC members, supporters, lovers, friends and off course a night of disappointment for those who felt the APC will never conduct a convention.
“A successful one at that and it was a very successful convention,” Lawan said.
