Lagbaja: Matawalle, Badaru, IGP, Others Condole Widow
The Minister of State Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar and Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, were part of top Military personnel that paid a condolence visit to the Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja, widow of late Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.
Others on the delegation are Inspector-General of Police, (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, service chiefs, and other senior officers from the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
During the visit Thursday at the official residence of the late Army Chief, the IGP described the late Lt Gen. Lagbaja, as a great man who dedicated his life and wealth of experience to defending our nation’s security space.
While reiterating the significant role the late COAS played in fighting insurgency and terrorism in Nigeria, the IGP noted that Gen. Lagbaja’s death is a great loss to our dear country and has surely created a vacuum.
The IGP, on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force, expressed condolences to President Bola Tinubu, the Armed Forces of Nigeria, family and friends of the late COAS, and prayed that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
Matawalle signed the condolence register at the residence.
