Chairman of Ikole Local Government Council of Ekiti State, Mr Sola Olominu, on Wednesday assured residents of Ikole-Ekiti that gunmen kidnapping indigenes of the community would soon be arrested.
Olominu gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ikole-Ekiti.
He said that he had taken steps to rescue those kidnapped on the Ijesa-Isu-Ekiti Highway by reporting to all security agencies.
Olominu said the security agencies had assured him that all the victims would soon be rescued.
He said proactive measures were currently being taken to ensure that all the perpetrators were arrested and made to face the law.
The local government boss appealed to youths in the community to exercise patience with the security agencies, stressing that all the victims would be rescued.
“I want to assure our youths that gunmen kidnapping our people will be arrested and prosecuted very soon.
“I am aware that the youths are very angry, but I am urging them to exercise patience and allow the security agencies to discharge their duties.
“By God’s grace all the people that were kidnapped will be rescued in good health and alive,’’ he said.
Olominu appealed to youths not to cause unrest and avoid precipitating crisis within the community.
