The first ever “Miss Environment Akwa Ibom 2025” beauty pegeantry is underway in Uyo, the State capital beginning from April 18 to May 27, 2025.
The beauty pegeantry, promoted by Kemsy Brown Nigeria Limited, a leading water resources and environmental services company in Akwa Ibom State, is aimed at promoting and preserving the environment for future generations.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kemsy Brown Nigeria Limited, Ukeme Brown Ntekim made this known at a Press conference in Uyo on Thursday.
Ntekim said she was motivated by the philosophy of Kenyan political and environmental activist, Wangari Maathai; Founder of the Green Belt Movement and the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize, who said, “The future of the planet depends on the choices we make today.”
The programme, according to her, would bring together young women from across the state to promote environmental awareness, sustainability, and ecological restoration.
She added that the women will use their platforms to inspire change by educating, advocating, and empowering their communities to embrace a greener future.
The competition, organizers stated, will award a total of N1million in prize money: N500,000 for the winner, and N250,000 each for the first and second runners-up
She said registration is free and open for the next month to eligible young women between the ages of 18 and 25, who are at least 165 cm in height and passionate about environmental sustainability.
Brown further said auditioning will be held on April 18 and 19, and the camp will open on May 27, while the grand finale, which will begin with a symposium in the morning, will take place at the Nelson Mandela Hall of Watbridge Hotels and Suites in Uyo.
