Katsina Safe For Serving Corps Members – NYSC DG Assures
The Director General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, has reassured corps members that Katsina State remains safe for their service year, despite security concerns in some parts of the state.
Speaking at the 2024 Batch C, Stream 2 orientation camp in Katsina, Brigadier General Ahmed emphasized that no corps member would be posted to areas facing security threats.
He acknowledged existing security challenges but maintained that most of the state remains peaceful and conducive for national service.
He urged corps members to focus on their primary assignments, integrate into their host communities, and contribute meaningfully rather than worry about security threats.
The DG also announced that corps members will start receiving a new monthly allowance of ₦77,000 beginning in February 2025.
He stated that the Federal Government has approved the increment, which has already been included in the national budget and is awaiting final legislative approval.
Brigadier General Ahmed encouraged corps members to embrace discipline, patriotism, and moral conduct as a way of appreciating the government’s gesture.
He further added the NYSC has partnered with the Bank of Industry (BoI), Access Bank, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Foundation and other organizations to provide loans and grants for those with viable business proposals.
He urged corps members to acquire at least two vocational skills to increase their chances of self-employment after their service year.
Earlier, the NYSC Katsina State Coordinator, Ibrahim Saidu, expressed gratitude to the DG for his visit and lauded the corps members for their discipline and positive attitude since the start of the orientation camp.
