The Katsina State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has approved the presentation of the 2025 budget estimate and the 2024 supplementary budget to the State House of Assembly.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Bashir Tanimu Gambo, while briefing journalists after the council meeting.
This was contained in a statement Thursday by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Katsina.
Alhaji Gambo said the council had carefully scrutinized the draft budgets to ensure that all the proposed expenditures for the ministries, parastatals, and other government agencies were properly captured.
Similarly, the state government is set to make a massive purchase of breed goats for distribution, particularly to women in the state, to boost their income-generating capacity.
This was announced by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Livestock Development, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman Jibia, after the 11th regular State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Katsina.
Alhaji Jibia stated that the state government would identify beneficiaries from across the 361 electoral wards in the state.
He added that the recipients of the goats would be required to pay back from the offspring, enabling others to benefit as well.
“The idea of goat production is part of the recommendations contained in a report of a special committee set up by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda as part of his administration’s Agricultural Transformation Agenda,” Alhaji Jibia explained.
Furthermore, the state government is more determined to reposition dry and wet season farming, placing orders to supply machinery and farm inputs for full mechanization of the agricultural sector.
Governor Radda’s administration remains committed to enhancing the economic well-being of the people of Katsina State through strategic investments in infrastructure, agriculture, and social welfare initiatives.
