Katsina Allocates N1.5bn For Boarding Students’ Feeding
Katsina State Government has allocated N1.5 billion to feed boarding students across its science and technical schools.
This investment highlights the administration’s unwavering commitment to providing adequate nutrition for students, a crucial factor in enhancing learning, concentration, and overall academic performance.
Governor Malam Dikko Radda’s administration has consistently placed education at the forefront of its development agenda, ensuring that students have the best possible environment to thrive.
The feeding programme, supervised by the State Science and Technical Education Board, forms part of a larger strategy aimed at boosting enrollment and retention rates in technical and science-oriented institutions across the state.
Speaking at the third edition of the state’s monthly press briefing, Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal revealed that the funds were not only allocated for feeding but also infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction in several boarding schools.
In addition to providing meals, the government has organized camping exercises for final-year students, introduced extension programmes, and supplied additional educational materials to enhance learning.
“These initiatives are designed to ensure that students are academically prepared for their final examinations, allowing them to excel without the burden of hunger or inadequate resources,” the Deputy Governor stated.
“This administration understands that a well-fed student is more focused and productive. By prioritizing their nutrition, we are investing in their future and the future of Katsina State.”
The N1.5 billion allocation aligns with the state’s broader vision of strengthening science and technical education, which is viewed as a critical driver of innovation and economic development.
Furthermore, this initiative reinforces the government’s commitment to free and quality education, breaking down barriers that hinder students from completing their studies.
With these strategic interventions, Katsina State is setting a new standard for educational development, ensuring that students not only gain access to quality education but also receive the essential support needed to succeed.
