Kano State Police Command has arrested 49 suspected criminals with looted properties from buildings and structures located around Triumph Plaza in Fagge local government area.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on Monday.
The statement reads, “On 04/06/2023 at about 2200hrs, reports were received from good Samaritans that some hoodlums, hundreds in numbers were grouping and planning to loot properties of buildings/structures at Triumph Plaza, Fagge LGA, Kano.
“On receipt of the reports, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc directed the immediate deployments of teams of Operation Restore Peace to the scene, and the suspected looters were dispersed. Forty-nine (49) suspects were arrested”.
Kiyawa added that, looted properties which include; 3 Flash Doors; Flash Windows; 4 LG Air Conditioner; 8 Pieces of Polling Door Iron;16 Heavy Duty Hammers and other items were recovered from the suspected criminals.
The Kano State Police Command’s Spokesperson quoted the Commissioner of Police advising parents and community leaders to talk to their wards/youths to desist from looting people’s properties.
He said, the hoodlooms action is a clear case of mischief and theft which are punishable under the law.
He said, investigation is still in progress.
