Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna Council on Friday commenced the 2024 edition of its annual Press Week with Juma’at prayer at the Ansar-Deen Central Mosque in the state capital.
The scheduled Juma’at prayer for the week offers the journalists who were in attendance at the Mosque the opportunity to pray for the progress, unity and safety of journalists across the country.
The presiding Imam, Alh. Adam Ayobami Bello enjoined the pen professionals to be upright in the course of their duty, and report accordingly without any fear or favour, as their uprightness will lead to progress and growth of our dear nation.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of NUJ, Kaduna Council, Comrade Asma’u Yawo Halilu while appreciating members for their turn out during the Friday prayer, also urged members to show same zeal on Sunday during the Church service for the week which scheduled to hold at the Anglican Cathedral.
Our correspondent reports that other programmes highlighted for a week-long celebration include a lecture with the theme “ The Role Of The Media In Holding Government Accountable: Prospects And Challenges.
While also, some members of the public will be awarded for their contributions to the nation building, as the Speaker of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas is expected to grace the occasion as the Distinguish Guest of Honor.
