Jigawa Petrol Tanker Explosion Leaves 94 Dead, Over 50 Hospitalized

No fewer than 94 lives were lost while 50 others with various degrees of injuries are receiving treatment after a petrol tanker exploded when locals were scooping fuel from the overturned tanker.
The incident occurred in Majia in Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State Tuesday at about 11 pm.
Contacted, the Jigawa State Police Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Lawal Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Dutse on Wednesday.
He said some of injured victims have been rushed to Ringim General Hospital for medical attention.
Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, A.T Abdullahi, extended condolences to the people of Majia town, people and the Government ofJigawa State, urging citizens to exercise caution and avoid scenes of petrol tanker accidents, which often result in fatal fires.
