The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has suffered a big loss ahead of the 2023 general elections as its immediate past women leader in the state, Hajiya Hauwa Yusuf Gumel dumped the party and joined the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The women leader defected to the PDP without notice, a development that has already caused apprehension and shock in the ruling APC.
Her defection has increased uncertainty in the chances of the ruling APC in the forthcoming 2023 general elections in the state.
According to reports, the former State APC women leader was accompanied by a former commissioner of Information, youth, Sports and Culture in former Governor Sule Lamido’s administration, Alhaji Aminu Muhammad to the residence of the PDP Governorship candidate, Dr Mustapha Sule Lamido where she was received into the PDP fold.
Speaking, Lamido (jnr) assured her that she is now a full pledged member of the party and entitled to all rights and priviledges being enjoyed by all other PDP members in the state.
The PDP Governorship candidate said, the former APC women leader will be received formally in a grand ceremony at a later date.
He informed her that, the PDP belongs to all Nigerians and it is a party that protects the of all it’s members and holds women and Youths in high esteem.
