Jigawa State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost more prominent members to the opposition PDP in the state.
Two prominent leaders of the party in Gwiwa Local Government Area, Alh. Abubakar Umar and Alh. Surajo Umar announced their decision to quit APC for PDP.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Campaign Deputy Director Media, Umar Kyari Jitau Madamuwa on Thursday.
According to the statement, their defection was the result of the ongoing consultation meeting between the PDP’s Gubernatorial Candidate, Alh. Mustapha Sule Lamido and Stakeholders of the party from Gwiwa LGA.
In their separate remarks, the defectors, Alh. Abubar Umar and Alh. Surajo Umar in their separate speeches pointed out that, the PDP Government under former Gov. Alh. Sule Lamido has brought to Gwiwa Local Government Area in particular and Jigawa State in general.
They said, no patriotic son of the local government will align with any political party other than PDP.
They described APC as a total failure and embarassment to Nigeria and Nigerians assuring that they mobilized their supporters to vote for PDP and all it’s candidates in the forthcoming elections.
In his address, Dr Mustapha Sule Lamido called on the people of Gwiwa Local Government Area to cooperate with one another and ensure they cast their votes for PDP.
Lamido Junior said, his government intends to re-engage retired civil servants particularly teachers and health personnel so to help fast track the state development in the two important sectors.
Similarly, Two former chairmen and a secretary of Yankwashi Local Government Area, Alh. Gambo Yahaya and Alh. Ado Yusif Karkarna have decamped to the PDP from the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Alh. Gambo Yahaya a one-time Managing Director of Jigawa Roads Maintenance Agency, JIRMA and Alh. Ado Yusif Karkarna former Permanent Secretary, Establishment in the state told the gathering that, their decision was born out of their concern for plight of their people in view of the hardship they are going through under APC administration.
They assured to work for success of PDP and all it’s candidates in the forthcoming elections.
