It’s Abnormal For NASS To Function As Tenant Of FCTA – Hon. Daniel Amos,
From Ahmad A. Usman, Kafanchan
As the bill seeking to transfer full ownership of all National Assembly (NASS) properties from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) back to the assembly scales its first reading in the House of Representatives,
Hon. Daniel Amos, member representing
Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency of Kaduna State and Chairman, House Committee on Services, has described a situation whereby the assembly functions as a tenant of the FCT as abnormal.
The bill, co-sponsored by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas with Hon. Amos, aims to correct what lawmakers describe as an “anomaly” in the current ownership structure.
Speaking to journalists in Kafanchan, Hon.Amos said it was abnormal for the National Assembly, an independent arm of government, to function as a “tenant” under the FCTA.
“If passed into law, this bill will ensure that all National Assembly properties, both within and outside Nigeria, are fully owned by the legislature,” he said.
Hon. Amos reaffirmed the 10th Assembly’s dedication, particularly the House of Representatives, to enacting laws that enhance governance and improve the lives of Nigerians.
Highlighting his legislative achievements, he noted his sponsorship of a motion on public and urgent importance, as well as a bill on LNG sustainability.
He also sponsored a bill seeking the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, Kaduna State, which, according to him, would not only serve his constituency but also benefit the entire state and the nation.
Beyond his legislative duties, Hon. Amos has brought various developmental projects, particularly in agriculture and education. He has also empowered youths and women, a commitment he vowed to continue.
Additionally, he reiterated his unwavering support for security agencies in tackling insecurity and urged the public to remain vigilant by reporting any suspicious activities for prompt action.
