Intervention Programmes: TETFund commences training for Desk Officers
BY NAJIB SANI, GOMBE
The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has commenced training for desk officers of its beneficiary higher institutions on improving its intervention programmes and processes.
Daylight Reporters reported that the training was opened at Gombe International Hotel, Gombe State on Tuesday.
Speaking while declaring the workshop open, the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund Architect Sonny S.T Echono represented by Dr Yusuf Gamawa Assistant Director, Strategic Planning and Development Department explained that desk officers carry out very significant roles in the conception, reconciliation and implementation of the Fund’s programmes and process, hence the need ‘to train and retrain them’.
“You are the critical interface or intermediary between the Fund, and your Chief Executives, who are the accounting officers of the intervention allocations.
“The significance of this workshop can therefore not be overemphasised. It becomes even more glaring when we consider the synergy and continuous interaction that is needed between the Fund and your institutions as reflected in the frequency of submissions and communications we have with your institutions on a daily basis.
“I do sincerely hope that the essence of this workshop, which is to engage, dialogue, discuss and challenge us on ways in which we will improve in our operations and smoothen the process of accessing interventions and their implementation by our beneficiary institutions is realised.”, he said.
He said it is expected that, the desk officers of the institutions would be fully equipped and knowledgeable about the guidelines and mandates of TETFund to help achieve successful implementation of its intervention programmes in the schools.
