INSECURITY: Group Urges President Tinubu To Call Matawalle To Order
A Group, Zamfara Integrity Forum (ZIFO) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to as a matter of utmost urgency and public importance, call on the ex-Zamfara state governor and Minister of State, defence, Bello Matawalle to stop off-putting and disrupting governance in the state.
In a statement issued in Kaduna on Thursday, the group alleged that, the former Governor instead of dissipating his energy disrupting the process of governance in the state, he should focus on his duty as a minister of defence even if he didn’t see reason to join hand with Governor Dauda Lawal to fight insecurity bedeviling the State.
The Group stated, “Matawalle was governor for four years without significant effort to curb the insecurity but rather continued blamestorming, accusing his predecessor, Senator Yari of being complicit in the endless insecurity before he joined him in APC to become mickey-mouse friends.
“It’s pertinent to recall that Matawalle was just fortunate to emerged as governor of the state by the pronouncement of the court not by the votes of the people of Zamfara state, knowing fully well he’ll be rejected through the ballot in 2023, he joined the APC forgetting the fact that it’s God who gives power.
“Today, after being rejected in the ballot as well as the tribunal court as expected, Matawalle has now deployed his estrange Commissioner of Information, Ibrahim Dosara telling all the lies against Lawal’s administration and shedding crocodile tears in sympathizing with the victims of banditry in the state.
“It should be noted that banditry and kidnapping flourish within the eight and four years of Yari and Matawalle with high incidences of school kidnappings, botched amnesty and locust ravaging of the state coffers coupled with inflated and misplaced priority contracts as conduit of siphoning billions of naira belonging to the despaired and despondent citizens wallowing in abject poverty and hunger.
The group further urged the President to call Matawalle to order as he’s trying to make the state ungovernable, and it was one of the states won by the President in the last election but rejected Matawalle for his woeful and embarrassing failure in all the indices of governance.
