Some aggrieved men of the Police have vented out on Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle over allegations of negligence, abandonment and poor welfare.
Eyewitness disclosed that the incidence occured at Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau, when the Governor paid a visit to the mortuary to see the corpses of the 13 police personnel killed by the bandits at their formation in Kurar-Mota Village of Bungudu Local Government Area in the State.
“After visiting the patients, most of whom are wounded police officers who survived the attack, the Governor moved ahead to the Mortuary but was met there by hordes of aggressived officers,” the eyewitness recalled.
According to him, the police officers complained that they called severally for reinforcement but no one came to their aid, despite the fact that they operated without enough ammunition. The personnel, mostly men of the Mobile Police (MOPOL) kept on hurling abusive words on the governor to the extent that one of them attempted to attack him but was held back by his colleagues.
They further accused the governor of neglecting their allowance for over one year despite the fact that they left their families for long time and no body is taking care of them.
“They said even having access to their salary is a problem as they are mostly in the bush.
It was that former Governor of the State, Ahmad Sani Yarima, whom the Hospital is named after, had earlier advised the Governor not go to the mortuary.
