Independence Day: Nigeria Needs Selfless Leaders – Mailantarki
By Juliet Vincent
A 2023 governorship candidate in Gombe State, Honourable Khamisu Mailantarki, has emphasised the need for selfless leaders in Nigeria as the country celebrates its 64th independence anniversary.
In his goodwill message to Nigerians, Mailantarki stressed that the nation requires leaders who prioritise its growth and prosperity over personal interests.
According to him, selfless leaders will focus on creating opportunities for all Nigerians, regardless of ethnic or religious backgrounds calling on the electorate to make right choices in elections.
He added that by prioritising the nation’s interests over personal gains, leaders can drive meaningful change and propel Nigeria towards a brighter future..
“Nigeria gained independence from British rule on October 1, 1960, and has since faced various challenges. Effective leadership is crucial in addressing these issues, including persistent insecurity threats, economic instability due to fluctuating oil prices and limited economic diversification, and inadequate investment in roads, healthcare, and education.
“As Nigeria marks this significant milestone, my message is to remind us of the country’s potential for growth and development. And I believe that with the right leadership, Nigeria can overcome its challenges and become a beacon of hope for Africa.”, he opined.
