A hotel supervisor, Ojunta Ikechukwu, 32, on Monday appeared in a Grade I Area Court, Nyanya, Abuja, for allegedly stealing items worth N3.28 million.
The police charged Ikechukwu, who resides at No 34 Usuma Street, Maitama, Abuja with two counts of criminal conspiracy and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, M.M Augustine, told the court that the complainant, Mohammed Bala, who resides at No 21, Yusuf Bala Usman Street, Asokoro, Abuja, reported the matter at the Maitama Police Station on July 29.
He said the complainant, a guest at Summer Set Hotel, located at No 34, Usuma Street forgot a black bag containing a gold ring, bracelet, vehicle keys, 3,000 dollars and other items, valued at N3,28 million.
The prosecutor alleged that Bala conspired with other persons, now at large, and stole the items.
He said that some items were recovered from him during investigation.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The accused however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Abdullahi Ogedengbe admitted Bala to bail in the sum of N1.5 million.
Ogedengbe ordered him to produce one surety, who must be a civil servant on Grade Level 10.
He adjourned the case until Sept. 17 for hearing.
