The announcement of the verdict made by the tribunal that conducted the proceeding for the National and State Assembly election in the matter filed by Hon Mela Victor Danzaria against Hon. Ali Isah JC who cling the seat with a margin of over 20,000 votes to defeat the said petitioner in the just concluded elections on the 25 February 2023 has been received with great joy. The tribunal in its wisdom delivered its well-considered judgement in favour of Hon. Ali Jc while dismissing the said petition on grounds that it was unmeritorious and lacking in substance. This development clearly shows that the coast is now cleared for the said Ali JC to carry out his legislative activities unhindered. The result of the tribunal was received amid great jubilation as both his supporters and him acknowledge the fact that it was a triumph not only for the people of Billiri/Balanga Federal Constituency but for our nascent democracy to strive and blossom. It is equally in this light, that the federal law maker who was also elected as the minority leader, a position he got after beating two strong contenders, as part of the joyous event, made a public speech accepting the outcome of the said tribunal. The said law maker made it clear after the said judgment of the tribunal.
“It is with great gratitude to the Almighty God that l address you on this auspicious day in which God has caused us to enjoy another victory, given that short while ago, the Elections Tribunal affirmed my electoral Victory over Hon. Mela Danzaria by outrightly dismissing the petition he filed against my triumph,” he said.
“This noble ruling has further reaffirmed the mandate which you gave me with about 20,000 votes margin as the winner of the February 2023 Balanga/Billiri House of Representatives election, and l want to assure you that this victory will further strengthen my resolve towards serving our great Constituency with renewed vigour.”
The said member in his usual way went ahead to advise his supporters to celebrate the said victory with magnanimity, modesty and respect for other persons who still felt aggrieved by the outcome of the said judgment of the tribunal. He further stated,
“ As you may have noted, this petition that has just been dismissed has never ever deterred me from performing my functions as a member in the House of representatives, and while it lasted, l have been able to provide some beneficial incentives to a considerable number of our people in the constituency, which goes to say that court case has never been a distraction to me and couldn’t have used it as an excuse to deny our people the benefits of their trust in me.
“ l consider the petition by my defeated opponent as an exercise of his democratic rights, which cannot be denied. And as we celebrate this ruling, l wish to call on all my supporters to celebrate this victory with modesty and with utmost respect for the losing camp without any form of ill will. Let us all be practitioners of the decency and decorum we are known for.
“Finally, let me reiterate my position that l will continue to serve the great people of Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency with all my heart. I will leave no stone unturned in bringing both human and material development to our people according to the best of my abilities. L will continue to solicit your support and prayers to enable us to succeed collectively,” he posited.
Recall, that Hon. Ali Isah JC who also had served in the 8 Assembly from the period of 2015- 2019 and was defeated by his opponent during the 2019 general elections, and Victor Mela Danzaria who emerged and serve in the 9th Assembly from 2019 – 2023, served as Chairman of the House Committee on Solid Minerals. The emergence of the present member after defeating his opponent during the last election of February 2023 was not a surprise to many as his clear antecedence while in the 8th Assembly. His interventions spoke volumes to the constituents. Therefore, his constituents were compelled to rush into voting Hon. Ali JC at the last polls same which shows a great margin of 20,000 Votes between him and his opponent.
he Humble Hon. Ali Jc PhD a distinguish representative who was born sometimes in the year 1975, brilliantly represented his people at the federal House of representatives representing Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency of Gombe State under the platform of the People’s Democratic party (PDP). The said legislator has a PHD from the University of Nasarawa. Been a person elected under the plat form of the Peoples Democratic Party to represent his people at the hallowed chambers of the House of Representatives at the 8th Assembly, and now at the 10th assembly, of which he had notable achievements credited to him, as part of his legislative intervention, during his sojourn at the 8th Assembly, he opened his empowerment and constituency office in Balanga/Billiri and he provided dividends of good representation to his people. He also served as the Deputy Chairman House Committee on Emergency and Disaster preparedness. He is a very hard-working gentleman who strives to see that he succeeds in fulfilling the demands of his people and his constituency.
As part of his gestures, precisely on the 4th of June 2016 he flagged off his empowerment Scheme and the official opening of his Constituency office. Over 500 people acquired training skills like tailoring, hair dressing and other similar skills. The said people were further empowered with sewing machines and other equipment to enable them start up small businesses.
He has also between 2016 – 2018 he has Consistently empowered over 4000 farmers with 5 trailers of fertilizers, seedlings, Chemicals and Spraying machines. He also aided both present and past party officials and other members of his constituency with cars, motorcycles and other empowerment items. The empowerment grants cuts across party divide including Members of the Constituency irrespective of party affiliation benefited. Religious leaders were not left out.
The said Hon. In his humble ability lobbied for federal presence in projects and employment in the fulfillment of his campaign promises, and he has provided gainful employment in various offices/Ministries/parastatal to the teeming youths of his constituency as a result of his efforts.
As part of his legislative functions, he has sponsored various motions/bills including but not limited to the following: a Motion to stop the practice of sale Hawking of Crisp Naira Notes dated 27 Oct. 2016, Motion on the call for the investigation of the contract for the construction of Cham dam dated 10 Nov. 2016, Motion on Need for electronic animal identification system to minimize conflict between herdsmen and Farmers, Cattle Rustling dated 12 Oct. 2016, Bill for the Reconstruction of Bauchi-Gombe-Yola High way in 2017 budget, Bill for the Amendment of NEMA Act 2004 dated 9 Nov. 2016, a Bill to Abolish the discrimination between HND/Bsc holders, Motion calling for investigation of the lopsided recruitment in some govt. agencies, Motion calling for an end to the attack on communities in Gombe State.
Others were; Motion calling on the Federal Government to Construct Abuja-Maiduguri Road (Akwanga-Amper-Bogoro-Filya-Billiri-Maiduguri) etc
The distinguish representatives have also made his footprints in some project that had direct bearing on the lives of his constituents in the area of construction and execution of a brand new six (6) class room block with toilets at Nyuwar Community in Balanga Local Government and in Bekwena in Swa ward of Balanga LGA, Construction of Block of classroom at the theological Seminary Kufai in Billiri Local Government. And has sanked water borehole in more than 20 communities.
This great representative, of recent after his emergence into the 10th assembly and in less than 100 days in office empowered more than five thousand with various cash interventions and farming items to cushion the hardship brought about because of the subsidy removal programmed of the federal government of Nigeria.
This astute representative has been fondly described by one of his aid in person of Ambi Saleh that leadership in him is an opportunity, a trust, commission and total believe to selflessly manage the affairs of his people in the general good of all.
