The New Managing Director of Jos Electricity Distribution (JED), Hashim Bakori, has promised to reposition the company for efficient service delivery in a manner that would be profitable to the stakeholders.
Bakori said this in a statement signed by Dr Friday Elijah, Head, Corporate Communications of the outfit, on Wednesday in Jos, adding that his attention would be focused on reduction of various losses.
“The reduction of losses will be via the instrumentality of performance tracking and evaluation, customers tariff reclassification to reflect reality of energy consumption by customers, customers enumeration, energy accounting and audit through aggressive metering, reengagement of all runaway customers back to the grid, and provision of quality service, among others,” he said.
He expressed optimism about the achievability of his programmes and urged staff of the company to redouble their efforts toward optimisation of their services.
The new managing director, who is a consummate Engineer with a reservoir of knowledge of the energy sector, is also a veteran in the electricity industry having spent most of his years in the then National Electricity Power Authority (NEPA) and the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
He assumed duty on Aug.10.
Bakori, who hitherto acted briefly as the managing director of the company in 2015, promised to prioritise staff welfare such as job security and conducive working environment,.
He urged the staff of the company to eschew all sorts of vices, rumour mongering and backbiting.
He said that the management under his watch would not tolerate indolence, non-performance, dereliction of duty as well as truancy from staff.
The managing director, therefore, sued for cooperation and understanding of staff to enable the company to meet its statutory performance target that would ultimately translate to profit making.
