Gov. Kefas visits Takum to assess storm damages

The governor of Taraba state, Agbu Kefas, on Wednesday visited Takum Local Government Area of the state to assess Tuesday’s storm damage.
It was confirmed that the storm which lasted for over one hour wreaked damages on houses, power poles, worship centers, shops, and cars worth millions of naira.
Mr. Kefas’s visit to Takum was disclosed in a statement issued by his special adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Emmanuel Bello on Thursday in Jalingo.
He said during the visit, Kefas told the victims that the government will find ways to support efforts to rebuild homes destroyed by the storm.
Bello disclosed that before the governor’s visit he directed a team of state officials to visit Takum and the affected areas.
“They were mandated to take stock of all the damages and proffer the best ways to handle the immediate damages and proffer ways to stop any future occurrences.
“Governor Kefas, later in the day, visited Takum to get a first-hand report of the damages. Going around some of the affected parts of the city, the governor met many shop owners to empathize with them and offer words of encouragement.
“Meeting community leaders and residents, the governor assured them of government readiness to support efforts at rebuilding their damaged homes.
“The obviously elated residents of Takum, who had filed out on the streets to welcome the governor, expressed appreciation at the prompt action.
“They further commended the effort of the administration, stressing their preparedness to partner with Kefas in the rebuilding activities.” Bello stated.
