Gov. Eno Approves Completion Of NUJ Projects, Announces Car Gifts To Officials

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno has approved the completion of ongoing secretariat projects at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), International Press Center along Information Drive in Uyo, the State capital.
Eno was the Special Guest of Honour at the 2025 Thanksgiving Service of the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists held at The Apostolic Church Nigeria in his ancestral home, Ikot Ekpene Udo in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.
The Thanksgiving has as theme, “Grace Upon Grace.”
DAYLIGHT REPORTERS learnt that the Inter-Ministerial Committee of the State Government had been mandated to oversee the project and to also resume work in a fortnight.
Governor Eno, who is the first State Chief Executive to attend the NUJ yearly Thanksgiving Service, also donated an Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), as official vehicle to the State Council Chairman of NUJ and saloon cars to each of the eleven-member State Working Committee of the Union.
The Governor used the occasion to announce his administration’s readiness to begin the payment of new minimum wage approved for the state civil servants at January ending with a backlog from November 2024.
He noted that, only workers who had gone through the workers verification exercise carried out by the State Government Special Committee would be eligible for collection of their salaries, while defaulters have to undergo the process to clear themselves before payment.
